Hickory Wind Opens Local Office

Peru office now open - Hickory Wind’s Peru office is now open, and to celebrate, UKA invites the community to visit and learn more about the proposed wind energy project.

Located at Route 251 and Shooting Park Road, the office is next to Walgreens and adjacent to the Habitat for Humanity resale shop. The business hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

“Opening an office in Peru gives us the opportunity to start building relationships we hope will last decades,” said Ella Taylor, Project Developer with UKA. “It also gives the community a chance to stop by to meet us and learn more about UKA and the project.”

Dan Churney, who mans the office, praised the location, saying it is at one of the busiest intersections in La Salle County. “When I worked at The Times newspaper in Ottawa, I would look at state traffic studies, and they showed this was always either the first or second busiest intersection in the county.” Churney, a La Salle County native, said he provides a face for the project in the community, a community he knows well. He noted the office was furnished with items bought from the Habitat for Humanity store.

“We want to share with the public our excitement about Hickory Wind,” Churney said.

To set up a meeting, call Dan at 815-202-0317 or email churney@uka-group.com.
