Fair Winds Ahead:
New study shows Hickory Wind would usher in over $20M to La Salle County 

Greater Wealth for La Salle County

A new economic impact study by Illinois State University Professor Dr. David G. Loomis examined the potential jobs and tax revenue impact of the Hickory Wind farm proposed for La Salle County:

​

• $20.1M in new funds for La Salle County, including:

• $14.4M for local public schools

• $2.6M to other county services 

 

About the Hickory Wind project:

• 80 megawatt wind farm

• Developed by UKA North America

• Situated in southwestern La Salle County

• Wind farm’s property taxes paid from 2024, when project comes online, through 2048 

• Local landowners lease small portions of their land for hosting wind turbines and electrical infrastructure

La Salle County is home to several operating wind farms, and the county has received a total of $30.4 million to date from wind energy projects.
